Question 1

Do all cats need sweaters, or just hairless breeds?

Accepted Answer

Not all cats need a sweater — but more cats benefit from one than most owners realise. Hairless breeds like Sphynx, Devon Rex, Cornish Rex and Peterbald genuinely need clothing because they have no fur to retain body heat. Short-coated breeds, elderly cats, underweight cats, and cats in heavily air-conditioned homes can also benefit from a layer. If your cat seeks out warm spots, curls tightly, or shivers, a sweater is worth trying.

Question 2

What type of cats benefit most from a sweater?

Accepted Answer

Cats who feel the cold most are those with little or no fur — Sphynx, Devon Rex, Cornish Rex, Peterbald and other fine-coated breeds. Beyond breed, elderly cats lose the ability to regulate body temperature efficiently, and kittens under six months are still developing their thermoregulation. Any cat that runs cold, lives in an air-conditioned home, or recovers from surgery can benefit from a well-fitted cat sweater or jumper.

Question 3

Can kittens wear sweaters?

Accepted Answer

Yes — kittens can wear sweaters and often benefit from them, especially hairless kittens or those under six months who haven't fully developed their ability to regulate body temperature. The key is fit: a kitten sweater or jumper must not restrict movement, cover the face, or be so loose it becomes a hazard. Measure your kitten's chest girth, neck girth and back length before ordering, and check the fit regularly as they grow.

Question 4

Are cat jumpers and cat sweaters the same thing?

Accepted Answer

Yes — jumper is the Australian and British term for what Americans call a sweater. Both refer to a knitted or fleece upper-body garment. At nudiecats, we use both terms interchangeably. Whatever you call it, the goal is the same: a warm, comfortable layer for cats who need it.

Question 5

How do I measure my cat for a sweater?

Accepted Answer

You need three measurements: back length (base of neck to base of tail), chest girth (widest point around the chest), and neck girth. Our sizing guide has step-by-step instructions and a video for every breed.

Question 6

Can my cat wear a sweater all day?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if the fit is correct and your cat is comfortable. Always check for signs of overheating or restricted movement. Remove the sweater if your cat shows any distress.

Question 7

Do you ship cat sweaters to all of Australia?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we ship to all Australian states and territories, including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart, Darwin and regional areas. Free shipping on orders over $99 AUD.
