Question 1

Do all cats need pyjamas, or just hairless breeds?

Accepted Answer

Not all cats need pyjamas — but more benefit from them than most owners expect. Hairless breeds like Sphynx, Devon Rex, Cornish Rex and Peterbald lose body heat quickly overnight and genuinely benefit from full-body coverage while they sleep. Beyond hairless breeds, elderly cats, underweight cats, and cats in air-conditioned homes can also benefit from a warm layer at night. If your cat curls tightly to sleep, seeks out warm spots, or shivers in cooler weather, a pyjama onesie is worth trying.

Question 2

What is the difference between cat pyjamas and a cat onesie?

Accepted Answer

The terms are used interchangeably in Australia. Both refer to a full-body garment that covers the torso and legs. Some styles have separate leg openings (more pyjama-like), while others are a single enclosed suit (more onesie-like). At nudiecats, all pyjama-style garments are designed to cover the full body for maximum warmth and post-surgery protection.

Question 3

Are cat pyjamas and cat pajamas the same thing?

Accepted Answer

Yes — pyjamas is the Australian and British spelling, pajamas is the American spelling. They refer to exactly the same thing: a soft, full-body garment worn for warmth and comfort. Whether you search for cat pyjamas, cat pajamas, cat PJs or cat onesies, you're looking for the same product. At nudiecats, we use the Australian spelling but our sizing and designs suit all cats regardless of where you're searching from.

Question 4

Can I use a cat onesie after surgery instead of a cone?

Accepted Answer

Yes — cat onesies and pyjamas are widely used as a comfortable alternative to the Elizabethan collar (cone of shame) after desexing or other procedures. They cover the wound site, keep it clean, and prevent licking without restricting your cat's vision or movement. Many vets recommend them as a less stressful recovery option. Always check with your vet first to confirm the wound is suitable for covered recovery, and monitor the fit to ensure the garment doesn't put pressure on the incision site.

Question 5

Are cat onesies safe to wear overnight?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with supervision. All nudiecats onesies are designed with cat anatomy in mind — no restrictive necklines, no loose threads, and no fastenings that put pressure on the spine. The fabric is soft enough for extended overnight wear. We recommend checking on your cat during the first few nights to ensure they're comfortable, and removing the onesie if they show any signs of distress.

Question 6

How do I measure my cat for pyjamas?

Accepted Answer

You need three measurements: chest girth (around the widest part of the chest, behind the front legs), neck girth (around the base of the neck), and back length (from the base of the neck to the base of the tail). Our sizing guide has step-by-step instructions and a breed-specific size chart covering Sphynx, Devon Rex, Cornish Rex and Peterbald. When in doubt, size up — a slightly loose onesie is more comfortable than one that's too tight.

Question 7

Do you ship cat pyjamas to all of Australia?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we ship cat pyjamas and onesies Australia-wide, including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart, Darwin and regional areas. Free shipping on orders over $99 AUD.
